LEMON DROP MARTINI

ABOUT

Perhaps because it reminds us of summers long ago, but we just love the sweet and slightly sour simplicity of vodka, orange liqueur, fresh lemon juice and simple syrup. Pucker up, buttercup.

DETAILS

The Lemon Drop Martini was named after the popular candy from the early 1800s because it tastes just like it. It was invented in the 1970s by Norman Jay Hobday, the founder of Henry Africa’s fern bar in San Francisco. Often described as “girly,” it became popular during the sexual revolution when more women went to bars alone. By the 1990s, it was served as a shooter - one of those crowd pleasers that even your boring friend Becky with her good hair would do. We prefer ours in a sugar-rimmed coupe glass and garnished with a twist.
